Solinea - Solar Installation Platform Community

Today designing and engineering solar systems for installers is a fragmented and complex process that adds to total cost and impedes the speed of delivery. Likewise, researching and selecting the optimum solar solution for the commercial and residential buyer can be an equally challenging process. Solinea is a web-based solar startup that aims to provide automated solutions to streamline the end-to-end solar system implementation process and provide actionable industry intelligence to the growing community of engineers and buyers.

The challenge was to create a prototype that demonstrated the ability to design, engineer, quote, market, and advise on solar solutions to a range of industry constituents from VC’s, to product distributors, engineers, installers, integrators, and consumers within 4 weeks.

• Working with our client to identify key user scenarios, we designed and built a click-through prototype that allowed our client to demonstrate the end-to-end implementation process for requesting a quote, choosing an installer, evaluating an opportunity, and designing a system to validate their concept among an audience of investors and potential users.
• With an emphasis on an intuitive user experience, OpenCrowd architected a workflow solution that logically grouped processes and tasks to organize and simplify the many components of a single quote for a solar PV system.
• In addition to demonstrating automation of the end-to-end solar PV implementation process, we designed and prototyped an online community that would allow industry experts to connect and advise each other, as well as new buyers.

• Rationalization and validation of complex data and workflow requirements across key users.
• A sophisticated marketing tool for generating interest among potential investors from VC’s to product distributors.
• A proof of concept that identified potential challenges and obstacles prior to implementation.
